Not a bad weekend but could've been improved. Practice went decently, and I was close to the desired pace, but most of the day was spent searching for an optimal setup due to frequent sliding. Prior to race day, I fell seriously ill and thought I might not be able to compete after experiencing two random episodes of vomiting. Thankfully, I managed to recover around 15 minutes before qualifying, which was fortunate. During qualifying, I struggled to find grip with my kart, resulting in a subpar lap. Despite that, I surprisingly secured the 8th position, better than expected.
The heat race went smoothly as I skillfully navigated around numerous crashes, gaining positions and finishing in 5th place, which was acceptable. However, the prefinal didn't go as planned due to changing weather conditions. It started raining, creating wet conditions with slick tires, yet I managed to perform well and impressively moved from 5th to 1st in just two corners. Unfortunately, the race was red-flagged, and the grid was reset, nullifying my advantage. During the second restart, I almost replicated my earlier move, but I slid into someone, costing me valuable time. Nevertheless, I retained the 5th position until a couple of laps later, where an attempt to overtake someone through the chicane didn't work out due to their slow pace with wet tires in dry conditions. Subsequently, another driver made an ill-advised move in the same hairpin, causing them to collide with my kart and dropping me to 16th. I managed to recover and finished in 11th place.
In the final race, starting from 8th position, I gained two places at the beginning and remained in 6th for a considerable duration. However, my tires degraded significantly, causing me to lose time to the competitors in front, leading to being overtaken by another driver and ultimately finishing 7th. Overall, it was a decent weekend, but with the potential for a top 5 performance. I look forward to striving for better results next time.
