Terrible day at Whilton this weekend.
Practice - In FP1, I was pushing and finding the limits, but I was sliding everywhere, and the kart felt horrible.
Eventually, I pushed it too far, hit the dip on turn 2, and apparently, I hit the wall at 60mph. My wrist was in quite pain. Surprisingly, I didn't hurt my neck as my neck went right back. I burnt my leg due to fuel leaking, and mainly my kart was wrecked. Basically, the whole kart was ruined even the chassis was bent. The only thing that wasn't broken was the engine. Anyway, FP4, 1 came 2nd in my group, and FP5, I came 2nd again in my group.
Qualifying - Wasn't good at all. I was going quicker and quicker, felt pretty good, but my engine went on lap 3 when you normally get your best lap, and I was forced to retire with a 46.3, which put me 15th out of the 26 but could've easily gone a lot quicker.
Heat - Went decent. I lost around 3 positions at the start, which put me about 18th, but I made my way back up to 10th, which is a decent result.
Prefinal - Before the race, my starter had broke but I don't think we had enough time to fix it, so we had to use the starter gun. So, basically, if my engine bogged down, I wouldn't be able to start it up again. On the formation lap, we were going ridiculously slow, so my engine ended up bogging down before the race even started, and I was forced to retire again.
Final - Wasn't great. There was a massive crash, one driver's kart went up in the air and they got thrown out of the kart, did a front flip, and landed on their elbow and head. The race was red-flagged (the crash is in the last two slides) and delayed for around 30 mins until he was walking again, meaning we could restart the race and get racing again. I was supposed to start 17th but got to start 16th because the driver had to go to the hospital. I seemed to be hopping again, which was slowing me down, but I didn't manage to make many positions, and I was getting stuck behind people and ended up finishing 13th. Overall, a really bad weekend and a lot of bad luck, but I'm still happy l've managed to secure 5th in the championship, and I hope to come to the DRS awards evening.
