Over the weekend, things went fairly well, though there was room for improvement. During practice, my main focus was getting acquainted with the track, given that it was my first time there. I wasn't too concerned about lap times at this point.
In the FP4 session, I secured the 3rd position within my group, and in FP5, I finished 4th within the group. Qualifying presented challenges due to traffic, which prevented me from achieving a potentially top 3 or even pole position. In the end, I qualified in the 7th position.
During the heats, I started off strong, reaching P5, but towards the end, I was overtaken and concluded the heat in 6th place. In the prefinal, starting from the outside was difficult, resulting in a loss of 3 positions at the beginning. However, I managed to work my way back up to P7, and due to penalties, I ended up in P6.
In the final race, I had a good performance, reaching P5 and engaging in an exciting battle for 3rd and 4th positions. Eventually, I managed to pass the 4th place driver, and two laps later, I secured the 3rd position. However, I couldn't maintain it, as both competitors were matching my lap times and managed to overtake me. This pushed me back to 5th place.
Nevertheless, we were quick and quickly caught up to the 2nd place driver. In a critical moment during the race, an opportunity arose. The two drivers ahead of me both passed the 2nd place driver, creating a gap that allowed me to make a daring move on the inside. There was slight contact, but fortunately, it didn't result in any damage. By this point, 1st place had a substantial lead, so my focus shifted to securing 3rd place. Unfortunately, on the last lap, I was slightly too far behind to make a successful move, so I had to settle for 4th. However, I did achieve the fastest lap, earning an additional 3 points, which could be valuable for the championship.
All in all, it was a very positive weekend, especially considering it was my first time at this track. Now, we're looking forward to the final round at Whilton with determination and optimism! 💪🏾
